Memorial to the victims of Hableány boat disaster
On May 29, 2019 a tragical accident happened in Budapest, on the river Danube. The cruise ship "Viking Sigyn"collided with the small tour boat "Hableány", which as a result sank near Margaret bridge. 35 people were on board: 33 South Korean tourists and 2 Hungarian crew members. Seven tourists were rescued, however, the rest of the passengers lost their lives. The tragedy shook both nations, but bound them together. A shock that could not be forgotten.
Designing the very conceptual precision lighting of the memorial has been an experience of paradoxical nature. Our team has had the opportunity to immerse and feel into to the painful thus highly sensitive subject matter, whilst being excited about making a phenomenal collaboration come to life with established architects and lighting designers.
