SOLID Bar Budapest

The picturesque skyline of Budapest has only recently been discovered by the local hospitality, thus rooftop bars have been growing out of taller buildings ever since. SOLID bar is on the top of Hotel Rum in the inner city with a view overlooking neighbouring rooftops but also the hills of Buda side.

The design challenge has been to create an airy atmosphere to the backwall of the rooftop, to make a believable impression of a full 360 degrees panoramic view. The solution included a long wavy mirror covered by a semi-transparent golden painted covering. The latter gives an elegant-industrial feeling, that becomes even more characteristic at nightfall, when it is lit up.
